Text Correction

Healthy Eating for Young People, booklet, HE1230. Please note that the text at the bottom of page 15 about recommended sleep currently reads: 14-17 year olds need 8-9 hours a night.

It should actually read: 14-17 years olds need 8-10 hours a night.

Newly released from Toi Te Ora

This month sees Toi Te Ora publish the sugary drink free infographic resource for schools. This resource  demonstrates the results of Toi Te Ora's Drinks in Schools report and provides schools with ideas on how to become sugary drink free. This resource will be sent to all schools and kura in the Bay of Plenty and Lakes areas to encourage schools to become sugary drink free, and is part of a collaborative approach between Toi Te Ora, the Bay of Plenty District Health Board Oral Health Promotion, Healthy Families (NZ) Rotorua and the Heart Foundation.  This work has been endorsed by the local Medical Officer of Health, the Ministry of Education's regional Director of Education, and the Principal Dental Officers in the area.

Toi Te Ora has recently developed a webpage with information for parents and caregivers about children's coughs and what to look out for. The webpage also has an audio clip of a wet cough.  Check out the webpage here - www.ttophs.govt.nz/coughs.  If you are working with parents and caregivers of young children, please feel free to promote this webpage.  And if you have a website where it would be suitable to add this link, please also feel free to do so.
