Potential contamination of fruit with Hepatitis A - 14 March 2014
You may be aware that there has been a recent recall of fruit (apples and peaches) due to potential Hepatitis A contamination. The fruit was sold in major supermarkets across all of NZ from 27th February until 13th March 2014. It is likely that much of the fruit will have been purchased and consumed by now. Details of the recall are available on the Ministry for Primary Industries website.
We are advised that the risk to the public of infection is very low, but we would be obliged if you could bear this potential public exposure in mind and please notify any suspected cases to the local Medial Officer of Health.
